How to make a basic Bug Out Plan

1. What disasters are likely to occur in your area?
The first step in developing a bug out plan is knowing what has happened historically in your area. Is your area known for floods, earthquakes, hurricane, etc...? Consider these factors when making your plan, they may immediately eliminate some options or make others more favorable. And make several plans for each possibility.

2. Plan your Bug out destinations
when making a bug out plan It is a good idea to have at least 3 - 4 destinations as a part of your Bug Out Plan, try to choose a place in all four directions (North, South, East, West), Because you never know when or where a disaster will hit. For example if there was a wild fire moving in from the west you may have to bug out to the East. Have multiple destinations in your plan. Also make sure to have multiple routes to each of your destinations as this adds flexibility to your plans. Going through this planning effort will make you prepared no matter what disaster comes your way.

3. Have bug out bags, and supplies easily and quickly accessible
if you have to leave in a hurry you do not want to have to search for everything. So make sure your bug out supplies, and bug out bags are stored in a convenient location

4. Make a list of emergency contacts and phone numbers
Make sure you have a list of emergency numbers for friends, family, and government agencies. This will help you stay in touch and keep updated on the disaster situation as it evolves.

5. If the kids are in school how will you get them?

6. Make sure everyone knows and practices your plans
